A reliable electric car: our top six

Electric cars have gained ground in recent years, but some remain sceptical about their reliability. The good news is that it is time to dispel those doubts. A recent survey of 13,000 electric cars by UK car website WhatCar found that reliability is no longer an issue. Below we have our top for a reliable electric car:

1. Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 tops the list. Tesla’ s most affordable model proved to be extremely reliable, with only 5 per cent of owners reporting problems, mostly related to the interior. Fortunately, all these issues were resolved quickly and efficiently.

2. Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona Electric also scored high, with only one battery problem affecting about 7 per cent of owners. Although this kept the cars in the garage for a week, all problems were fixed under warranty.

3. BMW i3

The BMW i3 also achieved excellent results, with minimal problems with its GPS system and interior. Most cars spent only a week in the garage before they could get back on the road.

4. Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace is in the middle of the list and really only had one problem: the brakes, specifically the system for recovering braking energy to generate electricity. Fortunately, this problem was also fixed quickly and free of charge under warranty.

5. Nissan LEAF

Although the Nissan LEAF confronted almost 15 per cent of owners with problems with electrical systems that were not engine-related or with the infotainment system, most problems were fixed quickly, most of which were under warranty.

6. MG ZS EV

Finally, the MG ZS EV proves that this car too has few problems. Only 7 per cent of owners had to visit the dealer, mostly due to issues with the battery and electric motor. Although this took some time, all repairs were covered by the warranty.

In short, it is clear that electric cars are overcoming their reliability problems. So if you are looking for an eco-friendly and reliable electric car, feel free to consider one of these top models. Reliability no longer needs to be a concern in the world of electric mobility.
