These are the 3 electric used cars you must drive in 2025
These days, there’s no shortage of electric cars. A nice bonus: you no longer need to shell out half a fortune for a new one. There’s plenty of EVs out there for less than 35,000 or even 30,000 euros. If you want to save even more, buying second-hand is a tempting alternative, not least because most used electric cars are young and modern. Here are 3 electric used cars that are absolutely worth a look in 2025.
Cupra Born
If you want to buy a used electric car with Volkswagen’s reliable technology, there are more options out there than just Volkswagen itself. For example, take the sporty Spanish brand Cupra, a relatively young offshoot of Seat. Here, you can get a smart electric hatchback called the Born, named after the trendy El-Born neighbourhood in Barcelona. The Cupra Born has a lively appearance and a practical, modern interior.
Chances are it seems familiar, as it is closely related to the Volkswagen ID.3. The two cars also share their technology, so you get to choose from a number of well-known powertrains. The Cupra Born has at least 204 hp, but you can also get it with 231 or even 326 hp. The latter is a special sporty version known as the VZ. This model also boasts a range of 593 kilometres.
Kia EV3
The Kia EV3 is by far the most popular car of 2025. They’re flying off the shelves. By now, plenty have become available on the second-hand market as well. As one of the smallest models in Kia’s acclaimed EV range, this five-door crossover is perfectly suited to anyone looking for a bargain on an electric car. The EV3 has a sharp starting price and offers a lot for (relatively) little.
Most cars shine in one or two areas, but the Kia EV3 is a true all-rounder. In spite of its compact body, it offers loads of space inside for passengers and luggage alike. It’s very comfortable and everything is right in terms of ergonomics. That’s not surprising really, since the EV3 is basically a compact version of the giant and very practical EV9. Perhaps the most impressive (and desirable) thing about this Kia is its technical performance: the base model manages 429 kilometres, and the version with the large battery pack has a range of 600 kilometres.
Tesla Model 3
The Tesla Model 3 is an obvious but extremely solid option if you want to buy a used electric car. The brand has been at the forefront of battery technology for years, and that’s clear to see in the driving range of their EVs. Even if you pick up one of the earliest Model 3s, you should still be able to get around 400 kilometres on a charge.
Thanks to the (relatively steep) depreciation of electric cars, you can snap up a used Tesla for less than 20,000 euros. And since the Model 3 is so popular, there are hundreds of used ones to choose from. As for features and options, you don’t have to worry; Tesla’s personalisation is quite limited, so most models are more or less the same. Pay close attention to the year, the version (Standard Range, Long Range, Performance, etc.) and the state of the battery pack. If you want more seating room, consider the Tesla Model Y.
