Which cars run on hydrogen? New entrants to the automotive industry

According to many, the future when it comes to motoring, hydrogen. Although the hydrogen car market is quietly developing in the background, there are already a fair number of hydrogen cars on the market. We highlight the hydrogen cars from the major car manufacturers in this blog.

The Only Two Hydrogen Cars on the Market

Only two hydrogen cars are currently on the road, they are the Toyota Mirai and the Hyundai Nexo.

The Toyota Mirai

This Toyota is considered the best hydrogen car on the market. From €71,995, you purchase the Mirai. The Miraj comes in three models, the Dynamic, Executive and Prestige. With a range of 650 km, you can drive quite a bit, which is handy, as there are few hydrogen filling stations in the Netherlands. What is nice is that filling it up only takes five minutes.

The Hyundai Nexo

The SUV Hyundai NEXO is the only other option, if you don’t go for the Miraj. From €69,995, you will drive 665 kilometres far on a full tank of hydrogen. The completely emission-free Nexo comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and an 8-year battery warranty (160,000 km).

These Hydrogen Cars Are Coming

Although there are only two hydrogen cars on the market today, many more hydrogen cars are coming to the car market in the future. Major car manufacturers like Honda and BMW have plans ready to release their first hydrogen cars.

Toyota Hilux FCEV

The Toyota Hilux FCEV is a prototype hydrogen fuel cell pick-up truck that reflects Toyota’s commitment to carbon-free mobility. The vehicle uses advanced fuel cell technology from the second-generation Toyota Mirai and has been developed in collaboration with several partners in the UK, supported by government funding. This pick-up has an expected range of more than 600 km.
