Alfa Romeo Junior warranty: what you need to know

Alfa Romeo Junior warranty: what you need to know

The warranty cover on the Alfa Romeo Junior is stronger than many buyers think. Standard, you get a two-year manufacturer’s warranty. Under the right conditions, that cover extends to eight years or 160,000 kilometres. Warranty is therefore one of the most important parts of ownership. Owners regularly report software-related issues, which makes the topic even more relevant. Want to know exactly what is covered and for how long? Read on for everything you need to know.

What does the Alfa Romeo Junior warranty cover?

The standard warranty covers manufacturing defects in the vehicle. Mechanical and electrical faults are included. This refers to faults caused by an error in production or materials. Think of defects in the drivetrain, the electrical system or the infotainment system. Labour and the necessary parts are both covered.

In addition to the technical warranty, the following supplementary cover is included:

  • 2 years’ mobility cover in Europe, for roadside assistance
  • 2 years’ paint warranty against paint defects
  • 8 years’ body warranty against rusting from the inside out

What is not covered: wear-and-tear items such as tyres, wiper blades and brake pads. Routine maintenance and damage that is not related to a manufacturing defect are also excluded from the warranty. ‘ The condition is that you have the maintenance carried out by an authorised repairer within the official Alfa Romeo network. ’

How long is the warranty valid for?

The basic warranty runs for two years with no mileage limit. This is the standard manufacturer’s warranty that applies to all Alfa Romeo Junior models in the Netherlands. There is no maximum mileage attached to this period.

From 2 June 2025, Alfa Romeo significantly extended the cover through the Special Sprint Warranty. This applies to cars ordered after that date. The Special Sprint Warranty is a free warranty extension. It is renewed annually, up to a maximum of eight years or 160,000 kilometres. The extended cover also includes the infotainment system and mobility services. The condition is that you have the maintenance carried out by an authorised repairer within the official Alfa Romeo network.

If your car was ordered before that date, the standard two-year warranty applies. So when buying, always check the order confirmation or the first registration document to determine which arrangement applies.

Are recalls covered under warranty?

Recalls fall outside the regular warranty period. A recall is also known as a recall action. They are carried out at the manufacturer’s initiative, regardless of the age of the car. With an official recall, the owner never pays towards the repair.

So far, recalls for the Alfa Romeo Junior have mainly been software-related. This ties in with a broader trend among modern electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Updates to on-board computers and operating software are the most common reason for a recall. The dealer carries out the update or correction free of charge, regardless of whether the warranty is still active.

Make sure you do not miss a notification. Keep your email address up to date in the Alfa Romeo customer system and check the MyAlfaConnect app regularly. Through that app, you are usually informed directly if there is an active recall.

How do you claim a warranty repair?

A warranty claim is always handled through an authorised Alfa Romeo dealer. You cannot go to an independent garage on your own for a warranty repair. Alfa Romeo only reimburses repairs carried out within the official network.

Follow these steps if you think there may be a warranty issue:

  1. Contact an authorised Alfa Romeo dealer and describe the fault as specifically as possible.
  2. Take the car in for diagnosis. The dealer will decide whether the fault falls within the warranty terms.
  3. If the fault is approved, the dealer will carry out the repair free of charge. Labour and parts are included.
  4. Afterwards, make sure the repair is recorded in the service book or digital service history.

Always keep your proof of purchase and maintenance history. Have maintenance carried out at an authorised service location in a way that can be evidenced. Without that proof, Alfa Romeo may refuse to extend the Special Sprint Warranty. The standard two-year warranty is transferable on used cars, provided the maintenance has been kept up in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

‘ That makes such a used example potentially more attractive than it first appears. ’

Warranty on a used car: what applies?

If you buy a second-hand Alfa Romeo Junior, the remaining factory warranty is transferable. That is useful, but always ask for the full service record when buying. Sometimes a service has been missed or carried out outside the authorised network. That can affect the extended warranty.

When buying a used car, also look at the original order date. Suppose the car was ordered after 2 June 2025. And suppose maintenance has consistently been carried out by an authorised dealer. In that case, the Special Sprint Warranty may still run for years to come. That makes a used example potentially more attractive than it first appears.

Frequently asked questions

The standard warranty period for the Alfa Romeo Junior in the Netherlands is 2 years. This manufacturer’s warranty applies with no mileage limit.

The warranty on the Alfa Romeo Junior’s electric drivetrain covers the electric motor(s), converter/inverter, power electronics and associated high-voltage drive components. The high-voltage battery warranty covers the battery pack itself, including cells, modules and the integrated battery management system (BMS). Necessary repair or replacement of these parts as a result of manufacturing or material defects is also included. Wear or damage caused by improper use is not covered by this protection.

Yes, there is an option to extend the Alfa Romeo Junior’s manufacturer’s warranty free of charge to a maximum of 8 years or 160,000 km via the so-called Special Sprint Warranty. This extension applies to cars ordered after 2 June 2025 and is extended by 1 year at a time as long as the conditions are met. The main condition is that all scheduled maintenance is carried out on time by an authorised Alfa Romeo repairer within the official network. No extra charge is made for the extension itself, but the regular maintenance costs remain the owner’s responsibility.

For the Alfa Romeo Junior, normal wear items such as tyres and wiper blades are excluded from the warranty. Routine maintenance and damage that is not the result of a manufacturing defect (for example through misuse or external causes) are also outside the cover. The extended Special Sprint Warranty of up to 8 years/160,000 km only applies if the prescribed maintenance is carried out to schedule and by an authorised Alfa Romeo repairer; if these conditions are not met, the extra cover may lapse. Modifications that differ from factory or dealer standards may be grounds for related defects not to be covered under warranty.

Yes, the standard warranty and any Special Sprint Warranty on the Alfa Romeo Junior are in principle transferable to a subsequent owner, provided the maintenance has been carried out according to the manufacturer’s instructions by an authorised Alfa Romeo repairer. When selling, it is important that all servicing and stamps in the (digital) service book are complete and can be evidenced. The new owner usually does not need to “take over” the warranty separately, but they must ensure that their details are registered with the authorised dealer/importer. Checking at the point of purchase (invoice, service history, warranty certificate) is necessary to confirm how much warranty remains.
