The future? Learning to drive virtually

For most people, it is very exciting: the driving test. You have practised for it for a long time, had many driving lessons and then the time has come. This can be quite a nerve-racking moment, but this is often not even necessary. After all, you have practised a lot, your driving instructor thinks you are ready, so a bit of confidence in yourself is allowed! This will only benefit your driving. But before you embark on your driving test, there is of course a whole process involved. From a theory course to a lot of driving lessons and perhaps an intermediate test. These are some of the components that make up the preparation for your driving test. Another component that can be covered during driver training is a driving simulator. This can have many benefits during your driving course.

Driving simulator

The driving simulator is a virtual environment where you learn to control the operation of the car. An advantage of this driving simulator is that you don’t have to deal with other traffic right away. So in the driving simulator, you can fully concentrate on learning how to brake, steer, change gear and accelerate. Moreover, you are not yet confronted with situations you are not yet ready for. So if you are a little anxious, or suffer from fear of failure, autism or ADHD, the driving simulator is an excellent tool. This is because in the driving simulator, your first driving experiences take place in a safe, controlled environment. So you don’t have to be afraid of anything. When you switch to the real lesson car after the lessons in the driving simulator, you will soon find that you are in control of this car. This will allow you to move on faster in traffic situations you are sure to encounter.

Driving lessons

When you switch to the real lesson car after the driving simulator lessons, you will feel much more at ease. That’s because in the driving simulator, you have already learned how the car itself works and how to control it. This will allow you to deal with complex traffic situations faster during the real driving lessons.

Mid-term test

Nowadays, an interim test is often chosen. This interim test is very similar to a real driving test. The examiner checks whether you can drive safely and independently and whether you show enough consideration for other road users. Attention is also paid to your control of the car, sighting, yielding the right of way, but also overtaking, merging and leaving the motorway, driving at intersections and roundabouts, and of course the special operations. If you perform these special operations well, you will be exempted from these on your real practical exam. This is of course very nice, as it saves another worry on your real practical exam. Another advantage of the intermediate test is that you have already experienced the situation of a practical exam, so you know a bit of what to expect. Furthermore, you get tips from the examiner on what you can do better next time. So you can practice some more on these points before you take your real practical exam.

Theory exam

Another part that is very important during driver training is the theory exam. After all, you also need to have a good command of theory. You can choose to take a theory course, where the theory is covered and you get practice questions. This way, you are well prepared for the real theory exam.
